G-Mark (Mandatory certificate for export to the Persian Gulf)

The GCC Standardization Organization, known as GSO, is a regional standardization organization (RSO) established by the resolution of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The mission of GSO is to assist GCC member countries in achieving the objectives outlined in the GCC Charter and Economic Agreement through the unification of various standardization, implementation, and compliance activities. All these activities aim to develop the production and service sectors, enhance trade among GCC member countries, protect consumers, the environment, and public health, strengthen the GCC economy, improve their competitiveness, and meet the needs of the Gulf Customs and the Gulf Common Market.

Today, access to these markets for products subject to technical regulations requires obtaining the G-Mark. The Gulf Cooperation Council’s Conformity Marking Unit aims to replace all national conformity systems to reduce technical barriers, encourage the free movement of goods within these countries, and strengthen regional economic strategy policies.

The mandatory certification for export to the Gulf (G-Mark) is a standard for classifying products that fall under the technical regulations of the GCC. The priority application of the G-Mark is for children’s toys and low-voltage devices intended for sale in the GCC member countries' markets. Additionally, the GSO has issued sector-specific technical regulations that provide a set of mandatory technical requirements for a product or product category, including its fundamental requirements and specifying its conformity assessment procedures to ensure the product or product category can withstand Gulf conditions.

The G-Mark is a specific mark from the Gulf Cooperation Council for GCC member countries that is affixed to the product or conformity declaration to indicate that the product complies with the requirements outlined in the Gulf technical regulations. Sohatus Industrial Consulting Company, with experienced experts in obtaining various standards and certifications necessary for export to the Gulf region, is ready to obtain these certifications for your product.

Why is the G-Mark certification important?

With the continued growth and development of GCC member countries, the demand for high-quality products is also increasing. To ensure that these products meet the required standards, the GCC has implemented the Gulf Mark certification program. This mark is recognized by all GCC member countries and makes it easier for manufacturers and distributors to sell their products throughout the region.

Obtaining the Gulf Mark certification is a rigorous process that includes testing and inspection to ensure that the product meets the necessary standards. These checks include testing for aspects such as electrical safety, mechanical safety, and environmental performance.

The G-Mark is now a requirement for low-voltage electrical equipment and appliances sold to GCC member countries.
